An interpretive Visitor Centre with an audio-visual presentation telling the story of Llyn Brenig, a Cafe and Shop with panoramic views over the lake, and an adventure playground for children which is free. There is a 10.5-mile circular walk round the lake, nature trails, and an archaological trail. Most of the moorland is in the Mynydd Hiraethog Site of Special Scientific Interest where a management scheme is regenerating Black Grouse.
ABOUT OUR LOCATION
Llyn Brenig is a large lake of 920 acres set 1,200 ft above sea level, surrounded by heather moorland and spruce forest. Hen harrier, merlin and peregrine can also be seen and, in October and November, mallard, teal, goldeneye and goosander. There is a 10.5-mile circular walk round the lake that takes about 4 hours, a viewpoint at Bryn Maen with outstanding views of Snowdonia and the Berwyns, and a streamside picnic site at Pont-y-Brenin.
FACILITIES
The World Fly Fishing Championships and regular Home Fly-fishing Internationals have helped to establish an international reputation for the fishery.
